Doomhammer

The Doomhammer's ominous name is fitting, as its wielder brings doom upon their enemies in battle. The last Doomhammer holder will use this mighty hammer to first bring salvation and then deliver a crushing blow to the orc people. Once their task is complete, the Doomhammer will pass into new hands, belonging to one who is not part of the Blackrock clan. With its change in ownership, all will be transformed once more, and it will become an instrument of justice. The legendary Doomhammer makes for a fitting conclusion to my Warcraft-themed PETG printables series, at least for now. To create this design, I combined features from various fan-art pictures and the short cinematics from Warcraft III. My goal was to produce a printable version that retained the original look of the item while being easy to print. This Warcraft item proved to be the most challenging of the three I've printed in recent weeks. The post-processing required to achieve the desired "granite stone" effect on certain parts and the gradient glow on the hammer head were the main obstacles. A lighter blue PETG would have made this process easier, but my ordered material happened to be quite dark, resulting in a dimmer glow even with pure white LED lights. Using colorless PETG and blue LED lights could have been another viable option. I think it would have simplified the process. The hammer head was printed from blue PETG, while the rest of the parts were made from PLA. To add details and texture, I used Citadel miniature paints and melted the surface with a soldering iron to achieve the "chiseled stone" effect. I also wrapped fake-leather strips around the handle for added authenticity.
