The Barons were the highest-ranking demons in the Hell Knights' order, as designated by the UAC. They remained in Hell, never observed to leave their domain. The Lazarus Project's tethering expeditions failed to capture any specimens due to the barons' violent, powerful, and elusive nature. Expedition MTC 2145/128 was believed lost after being attacked by these formidable demons. Ancient demonic tablets found during a 2143 automated survey describe the Barons as the royal guard of the dark lord of Hell's fourth age. This entity is likely Satan himself, about whom the UAC had limited reliable data. The barons' power has increased over time, correlating with their master's status.
