DOOM Armor Praetor Suit Chest
thingiverse
The Chest for a Doom Praetor Suit, modeled after the 2016 version, is designed to fit perfectly over a 3D scan scaled up to match a 1.72m tall person weighing 90kg, with surprising accuracy. The game model fits remarkably well when adjusted to scale. This intricate suit consists of 21 meticulously crafted parts, which combined weigh approximately 4 kilograms of filament in my case. While I could have potentially reduced the infill percentage to cut down on material usage, I chose to maintain a balance between strength and weight, opting for 15% infill and four perimeter walls that provide an impressively sturdy structure. To ensure seamless assembly, I included detailed photographs demonstrating how each part fits together. My 3D printing bed boasts impressive dimensions of 200x200x250mm, allowing me to print the suit's components with ease. Although my slicing software occasionally produces inaccuracies when converting models to STL format, this particular design proved resilient and sliced flawlessly despite initial setbacks. A scaling factor of 1000 was applied to rectify any discrepancies, guaranteeing precise dimensions. Using high-quality ABS plastic as the primary material, I successfully welded and smoothed the parts using acetone vapor smoothing. The exceptional durability of the final product is a testament to this technique. A notable innovation in my design is the incorporation of hinges on parts R8 and L8, allowing for a fully functional Praetor suit that can be worn comfortably, as evident from the accompanying photograph showcasing primed armor. Finer details were meticulously carved into the finished product, resulting in an exceptionally realistic and immersive experience.
