I stumbled upon the Sketchfab New Year's Resolution Challenge quite by chance. My initial objective was to model Santa Claus for Christmas, with an animation twist - a socially awkward Santa Claus that added a unique spin. However, I encountered time constraints, which led me to consider a scene of Santa Claus post-Christmas instead. He resides in a rundown apartment within a big city's rough neighborhood, feeling utterly defeated and intoxicated. To emphasize his dire situation, I incorporated a year counter. Each year is the same: gift-giving. Although the scene lacks Christmas cheer, it captures the atmosphere of New Year's Eve. Recognizing myself in this scenario sparked the idea to set personal resolutions once again - reducing my drinking and smoking habits ('I want to believe'). Perhaps this fits the competition's theme. I'm also a fan of Graft's work, specifically inspired by Pinkergraft and Heisenbrain.
