Domino Rack (for sideways viewing dominoes)
thingiverse
This is a compact dominoes rack for playing Mexican Train dominoes, designed to be printed on a 300 x 300 mm bed or larger. Unlike other racks that require the dominoes to stand upright, this one allows them to sit sideways, saving filament and space. The design fits six dominoes side by side on each row, with a slight overhang at both ends. The rack comes in four different designs: three two-shelf versions and one three-shelf version. Each design offers a unique twist, catering to various preferences. The first design features a notch at the top of the second shelf, enabling players to stand their last domino upright, signaling its position and preventing it from falling over. The DominoRackForSidewaysPlay-290mm-v2-fixed.stl model includes this notch, but due to the added feature, it is not stackable. In contrast, the DominoRackForSidewaysPlay-290mm-v3.stl design features a standard two-shelf layout with an extra 2mm of height on each shelf to help keep the last domino in place when stood upright. This version is suitable for stacking. For those who prefer a more elaborate setup, the DominoRack3LevelForSidewaysPlay.stl and DominoRack3LevelForSidewaysPlay_NoText.stl designs offer three levels with or without text on the back, respectively. While the author prefers the first design, they acknowledge that both versions work well, making it difficult to choose a favorite. In addition to these designs, two new 3-level versions have been added, one featuring the words "DOMINOES" on the back and the other without any text.
