Domino Rack (for sideways viewing dominoes)
prusaprinters

This is a 2 shelf and 3 shelf dominoes rack for playing Mexican Train dominoes. It is designed to be printed on a 300 x 300 mm bed or bigger. It is not as tall as other racks on this site that are meant for the dominoes to stand upright on the rack. It is designed for the dominoes to sit sideways on the rack as that is how our family plays with them so I can save filament by making it as short as possible.

The design fits 6 dominoes side by side on each row with them overhanging on the end of the rack a little on each side.

There are 4 designs.

DominoRackForSidewaysPlay-290mm-v2-fixed.stl has a notch in the top rack so that you can stand your last domino up so that others know you are at your last domino and it won't fall over as easily. This design is not stack-able because of the extra notch.

DominoRackForSidewaysPlay-290mm-v3.stl is just a regular 2 rack design. I made the shelf about 2mm taller to help keep the last domino if you stand it up. This design is stack-able.

DominoRack3LevelForSidewaysPlay.stl is a 3 level version with the addition of DOMINOES text on the back side.

DominoRack3LevelForSidewaysPlay_NoText.stl is a 3 level version without any text on the back.

I prefer the first design as it looks neat and the notch serves a purpose... but... the second one without the notch works fine. If you put the last domino upright, It doesn't seem to fall down very easily standing up. Actually... I can't decide which one i like better and that is why they are both available :).

2019-1-5:
Added 3 level versions. One with DOMINOES text on the back and one without text.

Print Settings

Rafts:

No

Supports:

No

Resolution:

0.2 mm

Infill:

20%

Filament:
Makergeeks PLA Pure Shine Silver

Notes:

No support or raft needed. The angles are at 45 degrees when printed as shown. If you have on ok cooling system, 45 degree angles are easily printable without support. You might want to add a brim to help keep the corners down if your filament doesn't stick well to the bed. Because the design is already 290mm, You shouldn't go bigger than 4mm on the brim on a 300x300 mm bed or the design won't fit on the bed. I made it 290 instead of 300mm so that you can add a brim if needed.

Category: Games
