Create your own set of 28 custom dominoes using a laser cutter by following these steps. Get started by visiting this Thingiverse link that showcases a pre-made laser cut box, complete with the rule block: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:714648 To begin preparing your files: If you're using the premade set I uploaded, skip ahead to the cutting section below. If you want to create your own custom set, follow these steps: Find a high-contrast black and white image for the "dots" on your dominoes. Ensure it's optimized for engraving, like the skull.ai design. Open your Excel file and replace "exactPath" with the actual path to your chosen image. Export your Excel data as a text file (tab-delimited format). Launch your inDesign document and adjust the page size to fit your cutting material. Now, merge your data into the domino shapes using the data merge function. You can also make custom changes by editing the master page template. To prepare for cutting: Choose the desired material for your project. Cover it with masking tape to prevent the gas released during cutting from staining the pieces. Next, set up your laser cutter and initiate the engraving process using an adequate amount of energy ("Pew Pew" is optional but highly recommended!). Finally, add a pop of color to enhance the pattern contrast. For clear acrylic, you can apply the design first and then remove the masking tape. Alternatively, you can leave it on until completion. Additional details: I've included a file for crafting a larger rule block with essential domino game rules. Feel free to get creative and experiment with different patterns, images, and color combinations!
