The Dominican monastery of Saint Mary of Mercy stands as a testament to history, its exact construction date shrouded in mystery, but first recorded in documents in 1460. Following the Dominicans' departure in the 18th century, the French took hold, and the complex became state property in 1898. This marked the beginning of Šćedro's permanent settlement, with agriculture also thriving on the island.
