This prototype connector is designed for creating geodesic domes and spheres with flexible ball joint struts that adapt to various configurations. To construct a dome, merely calculate the correct strut lengths from http://simplydifferently.org or http://desertdomes.com. Inspired by William Adams' Yazzo disc joint OpenSCAD script, it features hexagonal and pentagonal connector types. The prototype uses strut caps for 3/8" diameter dowels (though they may not fit perfectly). Update: Added strutcap.scad with more code to come. To assemble, print the necessary hexagonal and pentagonal connectors, attach two strut caps per strut to dowel ends, and snap ball-ends into connector receptacles for your desired space frame construction.
