Domed Nut Cap M6 6mm
thingiverse
The Las Vegas sun cracked 40 domed nut caps that came with our patio furniture set. My wife suggested I tackle one of my first projects: designing and printing replacement nut caps. After printing one and verifying the fit, I loaded up my build plate in Cura and let it rip. I discovered that the cap fit varied from nut to nut - some needed a gentle push from my fingers, while others demanded a tap with a rubber mallet for a tight seal. This design could easily be adapted for SAE English sizes as well, given the right scaling. I've yet to try it, but it seems like a viable option. FYI: The inside measurement from face to face of this 6mm nut cap is 15.24mm. To scale for other nut sizes, simply divide your nut's facing flat sides measurement by 15.24 and multiply by 100 - that'll give you the scaling value percentage. Example: For an 18mm nut, divide 18 by 15.24 and multiply by 100 to get a scaling factor of 118.11%. After printing a test print, tweak the scaling factor for optimal fit. The hot pink nut cap (which the Chinese PLA manufacturers claim is purple) now sits proudly on my Anet A8.
