This updated model, dated 1/14/2014, provides better balance for your printed dolphin with a curved body. The dolphin can stand on its nose and tail or upright solely on its tail, though a little sanding of the tail surface might be necessary for stability. The Blender file is included to allow for further enhancements (the model features rigged bones along the spine). The original 3DS model was sourced from http://www.3dmodelfree.com/models/26530-0.htm and has been modified and rigged for curvature. Printed with MakerBot Replicator 2 using ReplicatorG at 0.27mm layer height, a raft, and full support, the regular version (9cm long) takes around an hour, while the large version (13.5cm long) takes about 2 hours for completion.
