The Dolphin was printed using Colorfabb's high-quality Bronzefill material. To ensure a smooth finish without excessive sanding, the model was split into two halves and glued together. This clever approach eliminated the need for supports. The process of creating the two halves involved loading the model in Cura, lowering it halfway down the build plate, duplicating the model, and rotating one half by 180 degrees. After printing the two parts, they were carefully glued together. To achieve a polished bronze finish, extensive sanding was necessary, using progressively finer grits from 120 to 600 points, followed by polishing. The resulting finish showcased the beautiful tones of the Bronzefill material. The base of the Dolphin model was printed with Colorfabb's NGEN clear for the outer walls and PLA Ultra Marine Blue for the infill. This unique combination required a dual extruder setup in Cura, using the infill override setting to access the second extruder. To achieve the desired effect, the outer wall thickness was increased to 1.8 mm, while maintaining the standard top and bottom layers at 0.8 mm. The result is a stunning blue ocean with white foam on its surface, creating an irresistible visual effect. The print settings used were: plate temperature of 60°C, print speed of 60 mm/s, nozzle temperature of 200°C for Bronzefill and PLA, and 220°C for NGEN clear.
