This stunning marble bust was crafted by French master sculptor Adam Lambert-Sigisbert and completed in 1733. It is housed at the prestigious National Academy of San Luca. The sculpture, titled 'Dolore' or Pain, draws inspiration from the famous Laocoon group that the artist had discovered during his extensive travels. Despite being shrouded in mystery, the subject of this piece remains unknown; however, it's possible to speculate that due to the artist's fascination with the Hellenistic group, the sculpture may depict Laocoon.
