Doll Beach Bunglaow
cults3d
A beach bungalow for American Girl sized dolls (18"). Based off of one my daughter found in one of their catalogs for the low-low price of just $395. http://www.americangirl.com/shop/girl-of-the-year-lea/lea-rainforest-house-dgt30 My daughter really liked it, but knew it was expensive so she set out to "make one" on her own out of cardboard boxes. It was a little more than she expected. A proud Dad for her effort, I quick modeled this up. All 3D printed parts needed are in the .zip file. The file name contains how many of that part you will need. No number means only one of that part needed. All parts printed without any support on Ultimaker 2. My wife found the mini pallets at Hobby Lobby. They are 24"x14". I connected them with some old 2x4" chunks I had laying around. We used burlap for the roof, beds, and to cover the 3d printed parts. Foam board with fabric glued on for the back with window. Bamboo for the structure was from Amazon. I ordered two packs. Maybe able to get by with one. I suggest cutting the bamboo with power saw or Dremel. Trying to snip it will lead to splitting.http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0051GUQO8?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00 These are the screws that I used. Drill pilot holes in the bamboo to help keep from splitting and help get the screws started. Bamboo is harder than I thought.http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B011BNVRD8?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00 The beds can be placed at whatever height preferred and can be bunk beds or both on one level. It was a fun and easy project for the family to work on together. I might use left over bamboo to make a table and chairs. Need to make a hammock too. Leave a comment if you'd like more information on the build.
