The Patagonian cavy, also known as the Patagonian hare or Dolichotis patagonum, is a native South American mammal. It was first identified by Zimmermann in 1780 and has since been recognized for its unique characteristics. A mandible from the MZB collection number 94-0354 was used to determine its size. The dimensions of this mandible are 34.6 mm high, 47.3 mm wide, and 106.8 mm deep. This particular specimen is housed at the Barcelona Zoo in Spain.
