Dokdo is a strategic location, sitting 87.4km southeast of Ulleungdo Island and a staggering 216.8km east of Jukbeon on Korea's East Coast. From Oki Island in Shimane Prefecture, Japan, Dokdo remains shrouded from view - yet it is readily visible on a clear day when standing on Ulleungdo Island. Geologically, Dokdo was formed through volcanic activity, a process that crafted its unique landscape. Not a single island, Dokdo comprises two large landmasses, Dongdo and Seodo, alongside 89 smaller islands scattered in their vicinity.
