Here are some photographs that show my niece's cat, Zuzu. I recently purchased a Lithophane of Koyra, my sister's pet dog. Creating a lithophane was simple, thanks to the Simplify3D plugin. This application allowed me to modify various printing settings such as nozzle and layer thickness with relative ease. In particular, I found that utilizing .2mm layer height was the key factor in producing an effective three-dimensional picture. Koyra appears incredibly life-like on my wall - people have even mistaken it for the real thing when looking at photographs! It looks particularly wonderful when paired with my dark hardwood coffee table as part of our modern interior decor. I am not saying that a PLA printed lithophane can replicate high-quality 3D imaging, however, Koyra still has a somewhat whimsical feel to it. As expected, using this type of material allowed for some very smooth printing on even the smallest details, providing my sister with a lovely addition to our collection. The process from creation through completion took all day so keep that in mind when considering creating something like this yourself!
