Dog Proof Light Stake Adapter

Adapting your solar-powered path lights to 1/2" rebar solves a persistent problem. Two large Labs, with their energetic runs around the house, consistently destroy our walkway's path lights by knocking them over or leaving them at an angle. I tried reinforcing the stakes with solid deeper bases but ended up breaking or bending them instead of just moving them. This solution addresses the issue head-on. By connecting the adapter to a sturdy base made from 2 feet of 1/2 rebar sunk into the ground, the lights can withstand impacts and return to their original position. So far, I've only implemented this design in high-traffic areas. After a few weeks, I'll update this with my findings. Update: Tested it today and found that the spring isn't rigid enough to keep the light at its designed spot. To fix this, I plan to increase the diameter of the bar and ball joint to limit the spring's movement for the next test.
