This innovative design was conceived specifically for week 1 of the Ultimaker design engine challenge, with the challenge card "Music to my ears." The goal was to create an object that generates sound or music and two parameter cards were established; Parameter Card #1 focused on Permanence & Parameter Card #2 centered around Design for Them. The concept originated from a common issue: dog owners often have to train their pets to stop barking or scratching at the door to gain entry. This device aims to solve that problem by being placed outside next to the door, where a dog can use its paw to press or step on a button, triggering music or sound on a wireless speaker indoors. The user has complete control over the type of sound or music played, which could be set to their liking or configured to send notifications to a smartphone app. By being able to remain in a permanent location outside, this device meets Parameter Card #1's requirements. Moreover, its design specifically caters to dogs' needs, making it an ideal solution for dog owners who want to teach their pets to use the device without extensive training.
