Dodo - Rothschild's Extinct birds (1907)

This Dodo Bird artwork draws heavily from Walter Rothschild's seminal work, Extinct Birds, a comprehensive catalog of avian species that no longer exist. It's worth noting, however, that this particular representation of the Dodo Bird has been discredited by modern paleontological research. The texture used in this illustration is actually a recreation based on Frederick William Frohawk's masterful reinterpretation of Rothschild's original artwork from Extinct Birds. Both the original book and its accompanying illustrations are now in the public domain, courtesy of Wikimedia Commons. For further information, click here to explore more details.
