February 2023 update:Added a tonneau* (in french dans the texte) cover with some cable management (holes) and a place to stick the power-on switch that kept hanging out of the car. This can be used with the V2 of my RC car. You need to glu the rails on top of the existing rear fenders and when the glue has completely cured you can slide the tonneau cover in.Changed a few parts of the V1 body to make room for the new gearbox and the rear shock absorbers (basically making a few holes at the right places). Please note that I have not printed these parts yet. As a matter of fact I may print the tonneau cover but I think I'll go for a workaround for the truck bed and the seat using my existing print (V1). May be I'll make the holes in my existing print using a soldering iron. The result may not be very nice but this kludge should save 15 hours of print (in fact much more If you are unable to break the bond of the superglue at the right places).(*) tonneau means barrel in french ! My take on why this is called a tonneau cover in english would relate that to “tonnelle” which means arbor in french and can be made of cloth … So may be that's an explanation… or not!---------------------------------------------------------------I remixed the body originally made by Alexby (many thanks Alex !) I found on thingiverse to fit my RC car design. I liked the vintage look ! The original design can be found at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3367581I tried to make it easier to print reducing some details and increasing contacts between parts to ease assembly. In case you are wondering how I did that, it happens so that Alex provided a step file which I was able to import in F360. Then when deleting faces, F360 repairs the body filling holes or makes planes which is exactly what I needed…. I wish I had done it more (!) because gluing is not that easy because super glue does glue PLA eventually but not so fast . So use some masking tape in the meantime…I also increased the wheel base from 305 to 313 mm. 2023 EDIT: I discovered later that in fact the real wheelbase was 309 mm (after my increase) It didn't matter so much with my RC car V1 because the wheels were very far from the body. In my new RC car design (V2) as the wheels are now mostly inside the body, every mm matters. I even had to limit the steering angle because the front wheels would bump into the fenders… This lead to the fact that my new RC car will have an adjustable wheelbase from 309 (which matches this body) or 313 mm which is more widespread. When gluing the parts with super glue you should build 2 parts : the front (cabin + hood+ bulkhead1) and the rear part (Cargo+ bulkhead2). They can then be assembled by 3 M3 screws. You can then add a line of glue just behind the cabin to finalize the assembly. Then the support parts can be used to mount the body onto my RC car https://www.printables.com/model/281110-rc-car-185-partsIf you use my print files you will see I also tried to minimize supports.
