!!!IMPORTANT!!! There are two STL Files available, so make sure to grab the correct one. Only File has 4.8" Centers with tall stanchions, while the other file features ~5.5" Centers with low 5mm stanchions. I mention ~5.5" because I'm not familiar with the actual dimensions of that version of the truck, and I don't own it myself. If you have more precise measurements, please let me know so I can adjust accordingly. Before starting, please check your measurements carefully as I don't own the truck with 5.5" centers, and I had to make some assumptions. Also, keep in mind that PLA tends to shrink and warp in a vehicle, which may affect fitment over time. What fits today might not fit tomorrow, and I learned this the hard way. ******************************************************************************* First off, thank you again to tagscott for providing the Fusion 360 files. I'm working with a 2014 DODGE RAM 1500 truck, and I'll outline my modifications below. **************************************************************************************** Modifications as of 2018-07-18: New Mod's The big change is removing much of the back of the stand. This saves on PLA usage, drops print time from 10.5 hours to 7.5 hours according to CURA, and makes it more universal for phones with cameras in slightly different locations. The fingerprint sensor in the back is now accessible, and it's lower profile than before. The Logo still serves as back support for the phone under heavy braking, and it looks cool sticking out! I'd like to color the DODGE and RAM logo with some red paint. I narrowed the stanchions to prevent interference and added a filet where they meet the base to ensure strength and longevity. The width is slightly less than before, which makes it more suitable for my Pixel 2 XL. Future modifications will include wrap-around at the base to hold the phone in place better under hard acceleration. **************************************************************************************** Modifications as of 2018-07-18: Two new versions are available. One features tabs in the front to keep the phone from falling off during hard acceleration, while the other has more of a wrap around and filets everywhere! **************************************************************************************** New modifications in progress as of 2018-07-22: I've made changes to the cradle to create a constant area at the phone. More filets and improved pieces have been added. Modifications to come? I'm calling this design the RAM 1500 NextGen. The DODGE and RAM logo will be extruded all the way through with a clear back and some color or hopefully lighting. Problems I've encountered with the design include warping in hot cars, which causes fitment issues when using less PLA. A possible detachable design could be implemented to allow for removal during those times you simply don't want it there. Thank you again tagscott!
