The Challenger is the name of three Dodge generations. Two are pony cars made by Dodge in America. But first, Dodge used the Challenger name in 1959 for its Coronet Silver version that was a value. From model years 1970 to 74, the first-generation Challenger was made on Chrysler's E platform. It came in hardtop and convertible styles like the Plymouth Barracuda, which shared some parts with it. In 78-83, the second-generation Dodge Challenger was actually Mitsubishi's Galant Lambda coupe, an economical compact car version that wore a badge saying Dodge on it. The third Challenger is also a pony car. Introduced early in 08 as the evolved Mustang and fifth-gen Camaro rival, it stays as the new one to date.
