DodecaShaker Dodecahedron Condiments Shaker
thingiverse
I camp, hike, and tailgate a lot, and I dislike carrying many condiment shakers. This handy dodecahedron shaker has ten compartments that all use a water bottle neck, thread, and cap. Eight of the compartments are slightly larger than the volume of the cap, but two utilize the internal space inside the Dodecashaker for salt and pepper. Each cap can be labeled, and each compartment can be used for other useful storage like beads or pills - you name it! If you use different color caps, it'll be a game trying to remember what's in each. Here are the steps I took to make this cool looking, useful work of art. 3D print two halves of the dodecahedron. Print with a large opening on top and no support - it worked for me. Next, 3D print the spacer. After some sanding, apply epoxy to one side of the dodecahedron halves. Ensure you cover all around this will be your sealing divider. Sand more to make sure the spacer is flat, then glue the other half in place and ensure they're perfectly lined up. I used a full peanut butter jar to hold them steady while they dried, and my alignment was spot on. Cut off the tops of twelve bottles just below the rim. My bottles had a rim of 33mm. Sand each cut edge flat and make sure you expose as much area for epoxy adhesion. You may need to grind a bit on the dodecahedron to clean up recessed areas. Apply epoxy to the bottle top flat rim, then insert each into the recessed locations. Turn them after inserting to get a perfect layer - you can do two at a time and clamp until dry. Wait for everything to dry, usually 24 hours, then wash thoroughly. Create a stick on label or just use a maker to mark each cap of its contents. Now your new Dodecashaker is ready! Place it on your table during your next game party or tailgate and you'll be the envy of all!
