Dodecahedron Challenge
grabcad
This challenge started over a year ago on GrabCAD, originating from Michael Paauwe's dodecahedron model and discussing ways to create one using the fewest features possible. The rules for this competition involve creating a solid, regular shape with its center of mass at the origin, parametrically rather than dimensionally. Participants must use Instant3D to resize the solid by dragging a sketch feature. The winner will be determined based on the least number of features used and the shortest build time. One entry showcased this shape with just four features, while another has seven due to ease of creation without angle calculation. Videos demonstrating the design process are encouraged, but ensure that no dimensions are displayed for resizing flexibility. Any questions or concerns are welcome. The feature statistics will also be considered for evaluation on efficiency and rebuild time. Comparisons of entries have been added in a new folder with screenshots for reference.
