A partly planned XL Z-Morph design is optimized for better volume and print area proportion (50% print volume). The goal is to create more usable print space within the same frame size. RSDocs are included, and users are encouraged to improve and comment on the design. In DesignSpark, you can move the Y-axis, bed, and extruder to check their free movement: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98aCXEPEeL4. Ready-to-print parts are in black. Some thoughts on the design: * Put all steppers on one side for more space. * A belt-driven Z-axis does not require a coupler. * A gear-driven (5:1) and 82-tooth pulley (16:80) Z-stepper provides more torque (not tested). * The Z-axis speed is not necessary for printing. Additional features include: * Aluminum tubes on the X-axis to reduce weight of moving parts * Self-lubricating bushings for silence * Vertically aligned X-rod tubes for more space to move Most parts are designed to print without support, including links to Thingiverse designs: http://www.thingiverse.com/make:282839, http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:34174, http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2014273, http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:8460, and http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1997927. Thanks a lot! The print area is at least 500x500x500mm. The frame consists of: * 8 x 20x20x700mm aluminum profiles * 4 x 20x20x800mm aluminum profiles * 16 x edgemounts for aluminum profiles * 100 x M5 screws and nuts for aluminum profiles * 100 x M5 nuts for aluminum profiles Electronics: * Arduino Mega 2560 * Ramps 1.4 * Expansion board CNC shield GRBL * Full graphics display with SD card reader * 7 x 4988 driver * 7 x NEMA17 stepper * 1 x bed level sensor M12 * Power supply * 10m GT2 timing belt and pulleys * 5 x 15x640mm rods * 2 x 15x640mm aluminum tubes * 2 x M8x600mm * 4 x 608zz * 16 x F623ZZ * 16 x plain bearing sleeve fitted on rods Version history: v0.7: penholder added, full graphics display case added, electronic case added, rod holder with fixing point. v0.6 (first moving version): printable diamond hotend holder, more space for Y bearings. v0.5: twisted extruder holder, expanded Z movement, GT2 belt visualizing. v0.4: bed mounting, extruder mount for Diamond hotend. v0.3: bed size optimized (600x600mm), Z-parts adapted, space for filament pool and additional backcover. v0.2: changing frame parts to 700 and 800mm. v0.1: basic parts Print settings: * Printer brand: Prusa * Printer: Prusa Steel * Supports: No * Resolution: 0.2 * Infill: 20 * Notes: use cooling at Z + 2mm
