I abandoned this project, but I'll leave it here in case anyone gets inspired and decides to pick it up. I've switched to a linear rail design found in my other creations. This design has not been fully tested yet. Today, I printed the hotend holder section using supports in the area where the fan duct goes underneath. Tomorrow, I'll try to print more sections. The remix is based on the x carriage with built-in probe function, designed to be used with the standard HEVO E3d V6 hot end clamp. This new carriage is taller than the stock one, but it maintains the same height from the bottom to the mounting location for the hot end. The goal is to reduce tilt issues and prevent ringing while keeping the weight low. This design has not been test-printed yet, so I welcome any comments or suggestions. On November 12, 2017, I made some adjustments to the design by adding a few hot end clamps and a longer duct for the volcano heat block. The new duct is approximately 10cm longer than before, but it might need further refinement. I'm planning to start test printing as soon as I can get PETG to cooperate. However, I've noticed that black PETG doesn't appeal to me. Clear PETG would be great, but the camera glare was a problem. Perhaps grey PETG could be a good compromise. On November 18, 2017, I updated the carriage design by moving the hinge location. Now, I need to focus on creating a design for the momentary contactor switch or even using an optical sensor as a substitute.
