(do not print) ender 3 enclosure
thingiverse
I was always struggling with noise while using the 3D printer. Not me, but my wife. For my wife, I decided to create an enclosure to avoid listening to my wife's nagging. I will explain what is needed rather than the process of making. The basic skeleton is made of MDF wood. The thickness of 19mm is enough to absorb the noise. The thickness of transparent acrylic is 4mm. I made a special part for attaching the acrylic plate completely tightly. Even if there is a slight gap, the noise increases in size. I sealed it with silicone except for the forward direction. The hole for inserting the filament into the enclosure was a 6 mm drill. If the extruder has sufficient force to hold it, you can use the basic part on the ender 3 without using a separate filament guide. When opening or closing the door of the enclosure, do not use the hinged door. There is no choice but to make a gap when you make the hinged door. It will be uncomfortable, but if you want to reduce the noise, fix it firmly each time you close the door. The final problem is temperature. If the bed temperature is high and the output is about 1 hour, the internal temperature will rise and the molding will not work properly. There are three difficult solutions to this problem. The first is to install a fan. The second is printing with the door open slightly in the enclosure. In this case, the noise will leak a little. The third is to modify gcode. After the first few layers are printed, the bed temperature is dropped. I used the third method. After modifying cura's plugin, we output the fifth layer and drop the bed temperature to 20 degrees. This method keeps the bed temperature at about 37 degrees. That's it. Thank you for reading the long article. If you have any questions, please comment and I will answer.
