Do Not Hack Badger Case
thingiverse
This is a case for a Raspberry Pi based label printer, dubbed the badger. The rear section of the case houses the raspberry Pi, while the front section accommodates an RFID sensor and a Dymo LabelWriter 450, which drops on top and is secured by the lip. All cables are neatly hidden inside the case, except for one or two external power supplies. This device is designed for use in my local MakeSpace, where members can utilize their RFID door key to print a "Do Not Hack" label for items they leave behind in the space. The Pi runs OctoPrint and a badger plugin (https://github.com/Tinamous/OctoPrint-Badger), which allows it to be powered from the LabelWriter's 24V supply via a Pi Power Hat () or a USB cable. Holes are provided in the back for a DC jack socket and USB lead to pass through. The full case requires a tall printer to print, so I used an Ultimaker Extended; however, the case can also be split into two parts that bolt together, allowing it to be printed on a more standard-sized printer. The rear "engines" are purely decorative, inspired by the Star Wars X-34 Landspeeder (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/X_34_landspeeder). I couldn't resist including them. Files are available with and without engine options. The RFID sensor is secured in place by the "CaseForRfidUniversalPcb.stl" piece, which uses M3 pressfit bolts or long (counter sunk) bolts and nuts. This case accommodates the IB Technology Universal RFID reader, but that might not be compatible with all RFID systems. A separate part is provided for other RFID readers, using a similar enclosure with holes spaced 90x55mm apart. Currently missing is a cover plate for the underneath opening used to fit components. I will add this feature at a later date. Moved the Pi to the center of the case, providing more headroom for vertical connectors for the buttons. New time-lapse video: https://youtu.be/83kKAz4WToU Printed with Filamentive rPLA (Red). STL files ending in -v2 are the latest version. Old STLs still work but lack button holes and are not as deep.
