Do 31 Kit Card
thingiverse
The Do 31 was a German experimental VTOL (Vertical Take-Off and Landing) aircraft developed in the 1960s. Designed by Dornier, this unique aircraft aimed to combine the capabilities of both a helicopter and a fixed-wing aircraft. With its tilting exaust nozzles and lift engines, the Do 31 could take off vertically like a helicopter and then transition to horizontal flight like a conventional airplane. Despite its innovative design, the Do 31 faced challenges, and only four prototypes were built. While it never entered widespread service, it remains an interesting chapter in the history of aviation experimentation as the only VTOL cargo airgraft ever developed. Also, unlike for example the V-22 Osprey, it was the only VTOL plane witout any casualties during testing.
