DNA/RNA Building Toy Set with Improved Joints
pinshape
Remixed from the original design by chemteacher628 with improved features for better joint connection and fitting, this DNA/RNA building set makes learning about DNA and RNA a fun experience through interactive play with toy blocks. This remix was designed by Ana Wallis, a PhD student in the Nieduszynski lab at the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology, and me to provide outreach activities for local schools, supported by St. John's College, University of Oxford. The built-in tension of the joint allows for a generous tolerance needed for most desktop 3D printers, ensuring a smooth connection. The chamfered edges, located only at the joints, compensate for the 'elephant foot problem' that often decreases tolerances, making it much easier to fit pieces together from both sides. With a 0.6 mm chamfer at the bottom, you can safely print with a vertical resolution of up to 0.3 mm without requiring any raft or support material.
