DNA Model
thingiverse
Human beings model DNA. A stands for blue, T represents red, C signifies yellow, G is green. Deoxyribose sugars appear black, phosphate groups are white, hydrogen bonds are depicted by grey lines between the bases. Each segment measures 2cm tall, I produced 12 segments so my design is approximately 25cm high (1cm base) The base consists of a round wooden piece painted white; I created holes for the bottom two cylinders and epoxied the model into place. Print Settings Rafts: No support required. Supports: I chose to go without any supports this time. Resolution: My model was printed at 0.3 resolution. Infill: The infill density used was 40%. Notes: White PLA filament is recommended for painting on the design Post-Printing Acrylic paints perform well on PLA. Paint the black deoxyribose sugars square parts, then keep the white cylindrical phosphate group sections intact. Apply paint to each step of the staircase in a dual color combination that aligns with the A, T, C, and G bases. Design Description The creation process relied heavily on using mainly the rotate extrude feature within OpenSCAD. This provides complete freedom for adapting it according to your personal parameters.
