DNA lei
thingiverse
The main goal of this project is to rapidly assemble a lei or garland that resembles a DNA strand. Two sets of components are included, each representing one of the two DNA backbone strands connected by arms (symbolizing base pairs). One set contains holes and the other has balls on sticks inserted through the holes for assembly. Additionally, there are balls and sockets at the ends of the strands to allow them to be linked together. The length of the DNA strand can be customized. The print is initially flat but assembles into a 3D DNA shape. Two printing options are available in the OpenSCAD model: circular and linear. With circular, the backbone is printed in a circle, while with linear, it's printed in a line. The circular option enables longer DNA strands to be created in one print because more length can fit on the print bed.
