DNA Double Helix (no supports needed)

DNA Double Helix (no supports needed)

thingiverse

This DNA model is designed for display on a desk and can be printed using the MakerBot Replicator 2 without supports or rafting. This is due to the printer's ability to print cross sections by stretching plastic over an area multiple times. The double helix being greater than 45 degrees also makes it easily printable. To improve strength, consider decreasing the hollow area inside the object. The model can be printed at any scale, but smaller sizes are easier for printers to handle. A photo shows a modified version of the design, which was created for a friend (not the provided file). This photo demonstrates that no supports were needed during printing and cross sections came out fine. Printing Instructions: No supports required. No rafting necessary. If possible, don't increase the scale; instead, consider decreasing it for better results.
