DNA Brace

DNA Brace

I designed this as a Z-Axis anti-vibration brace for my FLSUN Prusa i3. The little clips click into the 6mm channel on 20X20mm extruded aluminum frame pieces. There is a hole for a 4-4.5mm bolt to lock the clips in place.
Vibration is (at least empirically) much better on the side with the brace installed as the other one was printing. (Edit - Both in now, much improved Z-vibes)
Sure, a heavier brace could be designed, but I wanted to showcase a bit and look cool. This is actually pretty stiff, and it's vibration we're eliminating, not holding huge mass anyway.

Print Settings

Printer Brand:

Prusa

Printer:

Prusa Clone

Rafts:

No

Supports:

Yes

Resolution:

0.2mm

Infill:

15% Honeycomb

Notes:

Printed in ABS but PLA should/might work too. Fits on a 200X200mm glass bed with rounded corners, but not by much, so maybe keep the skirt close in...

Recommend min 3 perimeters.

Maybe take your time removing the support material from inside. I used a set of woodcarving knives/chisels and a small needle-nosed plier.

Took 6 hours on my rig, printing ~63mm/s.

Category: 3D Printer Accessories
