I do woodworking and my tools demand constant sharpening. Knives, planes, chisels, etc., require precision maintenance. I utilize an 8X3 inch DMT dia-sharp fine diamond sharpening plate to keep them razor-sharp. This heavy-duty plate is cumbersome to handle. To address this issue, I designed a sturdy holder that securely fastens the plate onto my workbench in my woodworking vise. The crossbar fits snugly into one of the slots on the base, allowing the vise to grip it firmly. Alternatively, you can opt out of this step and use the standalone base instead. This sharpening plate functions optimally when used with a liquid slurry that washes away fine filings and grit. The four drainage holes in the base facilitate easy fluid removal. I permanently attached the crossbar to the slot I plan to utilize. This design is specifically tailored for flush-mounted woodworking vises, not mechanics' vises that sit atop the workbench surface. It's crucial to be aware of this distinction. Always exercise caution when working around sharp tools.
