dmount: Vinyl Record Wall Mount ======================== I was inspired by this design but wanted something with hidden mounting. By placing the mounting behind the record, it makes it protrude from the wall slightly, which I also like. My goal was to use it both as decoration and a "now playing" stand. My prerequisites were: * Can hold both single and double (triple) gatefold albums * Easy to quickly secure and release the jacket with one hand * Should not warp the record if left * Hold the record securely in place * Good looking and somewhat minimalistic Installation -------------- Tested with 3.5 mm and 4 mm wood screws. The hole for the screw head is 9 mm in diameter and 3 mm deep. The screw hole is 3 mm in diameter. Make sure the head goes all the way in so as not to scratch or hinder the record. The bigger piece with the lip is the top piece since this is where you push the record up to secure it and release it. I used a cross laser to align the screw holes and get everything level. The distance between the bottom and the top screw holes should be approximately 31 cm for a 12" record. I recommend mounting in this order: 1. Mount the bottom part with one screw 2. Level the bottom part with a laser or spirit level and fasten the other screw 3. Stand a record on the bottom part and lean it against the wall 4. Hold the top part with your hand and align it so the top of the jacket is just on level with the broader part where the lip begins 5. Remove the record and mark one of the screw holes in the wall 6. Align the screw hole with the bottom part screw hole 7. Mount the top part with one screw, level it with a laser or spirit level and fasten the other screw 8. Enjoin There is some difference in size between jackets but if you align it like this there should be decent margins. Design ------- Designed from scratch in Rhino 5. It took a couple of versions to get the distances right and print without warping.
