Dji phantom quadcopter style shell / frame
thingiverse
The design is finalized and I won't make any additional changes. The parts have been printed and everything fits together smoothly so far. If anyone experiences any issues let me know right away. This design is for a Dji phantom style quadcopter shell/frame that can be printed on a standard 200mm x 200mm print bed. It's still a work in progress and the battery cover hasn't been designed yet, but I'm looking for feedback from all of you to help with any modifications or ideas. The motor mounts are based on common 19mm x 16mm mounts and there are thin round supports under the top shell that need to be snapped out after printing. The bottom is thick enough to drill in landing gear, although I plan on using retractable gear once it becomes available. According to my estimates, the weight of the frame will range from around 260 grams to 300 grams, depending on the print settings used. I designed a large battery bay for high mah batteries and the specs are as follows: 32mm x 47mm x 145mm. It can accommodate Walkera x350 pro style batteries with an extended bay size, which is similar to the one at hobbyking.com for 5200mah packs. Link:http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__62884__MultiStar_High_Capacity_3S_5200mAh_Multi_Rotor_Lipo_Pack.html Instructions To assemble the quadcopter, I recommend using supports during the printing process. There is a built-in support under the top shell that needs to be snapped out once it's finished. No support material should be required for the battery bay, bottom shell, or cap. Supports will, however, need to be used for the top shell as this print has some challenges when not using supports. If your printer is capable of handling prints with complex shapes and supports are removed properly then there may not be an issue but printing the part without supports won't work out unless your printer tuned like a high-end piano.
