DJI Phantom Drop Maze
thingiverse
This is a straightforward method for dropping objects from mid-air using a DJI Phantom drone. To use it, simply attach your package to the drone with a hook (see customization section below), then fly to your destination. Once you arrive, move the right stick horizontally back and forth to create a side-to-side motion. This should cause the hook to slide downward until it reaches the bottom, at which point your object is released. To see this technique in action, check out the video at https://youtu.be/2jpCVHGBHiE. Print Settings: Printer: Da Vinci 1.0A Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: .2 mm Infill: 25% - 50% Post-Printing: Clean-up: Use a small file to clean up the mechanism, then attach it with hot glue and two zip-ties. Make sure the surface that the hook slides on is smooth. How I Designed This: I came up with this design on my own, not copied from someone else's idea. While browsing online for a metal gimbal guard, I stumbled upon a similar product at http://www.gimbal-guard.com. Although I thought it was a great concept, I wouldn't pay $44.90 for a piece of plastic. So, I jumped into TinkerCAD and created this 40-cent drop mechanism in just 15 minutes. Custom Section: The Hook: This hook is made from a bent coat hanger piece.
