DJI Phantom 3 motor protection
thingiverse
I recently purchased a DJI Phantom 3 Standard and a sturdy backpack to store and transport my drone. The pictures clearly show that the drone is stored upside down in the backpack, which prompted me to find a solution to protect the motors from the weight of the drone. I searched Thingiverse and other websites but couldn't find a suitable design, so I decided to create one myself. Using OpenSCAD, I designed this motor protection system that snaps onto the drone's frame, inspired by Meissler's Quick Release Propeller Guard (Phantom 1/2/3) on Thingiverse. This design allows for easy attachment and detachment without needing to calibrate the compass or start up the DJI app in the field. I omitted the knobs found in Meissler's original design because they slowed down the snapping process, but you can enable them if needed by setting 'ShowKnobs' to true in the OpenSCAD file. I'd like to thank Meissler for sharing his example, which helped me learn from his design through reverse engineering. I hope you enjoy printing this and let me know how it turns out. Note that I used OpenScad 2016, but the official 2015 version should work fine.
