DJI Phantom 3 camera hood sun shade

UPDATE: Be aware of potential jello effect on very sunny days. Consider using a body sun shade from http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:890374 to prevent halation and flicker caused by the sun's shadow. This work, version 4, draws inspiration from DanHamilton's original design at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:825988. OpenScad designed it, and Microsoft Model Repair Service refined the model. Instructions: The design is crafted for minimal weight (2.3g ABS made), as a heavier hood can cause vibration in video footage due to gimbal movement. Although this version is nearly perfect, slight jello effects may still occur under certain conditions (wind, fly/ascend/descend speed, prop balance, etc.). To avoid interference with the gimbal guard when the drone is most down, I removed the lower half of the hood, which was originally hand-made from bamboo. When calibrating the gimbal, it's best to leave the hood off until power is turned on. I recommend removing the lens cap, turning on the power, and then placing the hood in its position for calibration purposes only. ABS may shrink slightly over time, causing the hood to be tighter than designed; if this occurs, use vinyl tape or mending tape to secure it. The hood offers a very narrow field of view (94 degrees), which is beneficial in preventing distortions. However, my printer's ABS material tends to shrink significantly, but this does not affect the camera's view. Take care when handling the hag arm part, as it can be quite fragile; consider using a protective cylinder (31.5mm diameter x 20.5mm depth) when storing or transporting the drone.
