DJI Phantom 3 camera body sun shade hood

The body-attached camera sun shade has no impact on the camera/gimbal balance, but it only works when the altitude of the sun is high enough. I created a hood for the Phantom 3 camera lens at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:854297, but sometimes it causes a jello (rolling shutter) effect. I believe the gimbal control is designed based on balance when the lens has no filter or hood. When using this shade, be cautious with high-speed forward movement as it creates a shadow in the upper part of the view. Read "Instructions" for more details. The picture is of the 45mm version, which my P3 also wears along with a handmade CFRP gimbal/cam protector designed using CAD. Inside the camera, there's an ND8 (three-step) filter that reduces jello effect on sunny days. I used OpenSCAD to design this shade. Instructions: This shade can be loosely fixed in place by the front legs with notches; however, FIX IT TIGHTLY using a zip tie or vinyl tape. DO NOT DROP IT IN THE AIR. I prefer using tape - fixing it with glue or a zip tie makes it hard to put in the Phantom backpack or remove when shooting at high speeds. The 45mm shade just covers all parts of the front left/right prop, which perfectly removes jitter effect by prop shuttering (backlight effect remains when the sun is low altitude). However, this easily creates a shadow in the field of view - almost over 10km/h or 3m/s forward cruise when the camera is horizontal (anyway, in that case, props will be in view). The 34mm version is better, but it only works when the sun's altitude is high, between 9-14 o'clock at N35 area in summer (Jun.-Sep.). If planning a high-speed cruise and horizontal shooting, do not use this shade. Cleaning the lens (actually the UV filter) and removing flicker (auto) in the DJI Pilot app are certainly effective. This shade also affects airflow (downwash pushes down the front). No significant effect on balance (thanks to the flight controller), but stabilizing balance MAY shorten flight time.
