DJI Mavic Landing Skid with RF-V16 Tracker Mount
thingiverse
Update 2017-04-15: A tapered version of the skids has been added. It was discovered that with normal skids, a small portion of them can be seen in the field of view when the camera is pointing straight down. The tapered version prevents this from happening during normal flight maneuvers. Attention: Due to the reduced length of the new skids, they are slightly less stable than their predecessors. To ensure safe landing, it's crucial to start from a flat surface and make sure all props are fully unfolded before taking off. This helps prevent torque that might tilt the mav forward. The landing skids designed by WeMake3D are highly praised for their sleek design. They don't obstruct the arms when folding or unfolding, nor do they interfere with the downwards VPS system. Additionally, the baseplate can be mounted even when using a DJI bag. However, a tracker mount was missing from the original design. To address this, the left skid was modified to accommodate an RF-V16 tracker mount. This addition allows for seamless folding and unfolding of the arms while maintaining a tight fit with no risk of wobbling or coming loose. The tracker can be easily powered on/off and recharged without needing to remove it from its mount. The added weight of approximately 35g near the center of gravity is unlikely to significantly impact maneuverability, and the GSM antenna remains at a safe distance from the electronics. Have fun printing this design! Note for Simplify3D users: If you encounter issues slicing the left skid, resulting in an incomplete or weak print, try the following solution. Click on "Mesh" and then "Separate connected surface areas." Slice again to ensure proper printing. This known issue in S3D can be resolved by separating multi-object models before slicing them.
