Release Mechanism for DJI Mavic 2 Zoom/Pro that triggers with the light on the bottom of the drone with a Arduino Nano (I had most parts laying around, it might be cheaper to buy the cheap amazon versions) I recommend printing leg extensions for your drone because the arm sits lower than the drone, but If you want to build your own release mechanism this is what I did. Parts Needed: 9G Servo Arduino Nano MC7800 Voltage Regulator or similar (needs to reduce 9v power to 5v for Arduino) photovoltaic sensor 10k ohm Resistor Small 3mm rod (I used a tig welding rod) 3mm shaft collars for the rod Velcro Strap Wire Instructions: Print parts with your preferred settings, glue the electrical box and battery box to the main frame with super glue. Heat the servo arm up with a lighter and push over the servo to imprint the servo teeth into the plastic. I followed a guide on instructables to wire up the electronics ( https://www.instructables.com/Light-Controlled-Servo/ ) I tweaked the code to move the servo a specific amount due to the light in the sensor (code in the last picture) you might have to adjust the servo angle in the code to the rod length. Attach your voltage regulator to power the arduino. Bend the rod at a 90 where the servo arm lines up and cut the rod to not extend past the last guide, put the rod through the servo arm and and attach a shaft collar to keep it in place. I made lids for the boxes that use 1mm screws but everything stays pretty well in place without them and I flew it a few times without them (make sure nothing will fall out before flying). Make sure everything works and you should be able to drop at least 1 pound payloads (this is all I've tested).
