DJI F550 Battery Box

Upgrading the battery to 2 x Floureon 4-cell 4500mAh units yields a combined 9000mAh capacity at 14.8V with a rating of 90C. This modification is expected to significantly improve flight time. Seeking an efficient way to securely attach these batteries to the frame, while allowing for some flexibility in the center of gravity (COG), was crucial. Fortunately, printing new long legs has demonstrated that the print quality is robust enough to support this design. To maximize strength, the three-part structure was glued together with the print grain aligned in the same direction. A 30% fill PLA box was printed on my printer with supports to ensure stability. The final design incorporates weight reduction holes removed from the original and reinforced corners to enhance overall durability. Given that the battery weighs 1kg and may experience a heavy landing, I anticipate additional stress of approximately 20g.
