Djembe (African Drum) hi-rez scan (Playable!)
myminifactory
This is a 126-picture Agisoft scan of a beautifully crafted African djembe drum. The drum was scanned flat on its head, allowing for an accurate capture of intricate details like chisel marks from expert carving. After scanning, I completed the hollowing process in Blender, creating a detailed digital model. When printed with the drumhead attached to the build plate, it's surprisingly playable as a finger drum, although lacking the rich tones of the original instrument. The carvings around the body are remarkably preserved, and many of the head lacings appear freestanding. The model is optimized for printing on a Makerbot-type printer, but I can only imagine how stunning it would look if printed with a Rostock Max's superior capabilities.
