DJ starcloth, dmx and power flight case
thingiverse
Hey guys, I'm a club DJ with a mobile rig that's always cluttered with extension leads, DMX cables, and power packs. That's why I decided to create this for myself. Inside the case is a power rail featuring individual glass fuses and an RCD that supplies 220 volts to the mounted IEC sockets on top. Unfortunately, I'm missing two of them because I couldn't find the package, but they'll be here eventually. The holes next to the IECs are designed for mounting small indication lights that I'm still waiting to arrive. The power input is located near the LEDJ pack, and I've included a photo of it close up. The holes are 3.8mm in diameter, making them perfect for M4 bolts that will self-tap nicely. For added safety, I've also installed nyloc nuts. You might not be able to see it in the image, but the DMX input on the LEDJ pack is connected to a small box housing an Arduino-based USB-to-DMX adapter. The DMX output plate has a USB input and two GX12-2 & GX12-3 plugs for the starcloth. If you decide to build something similar or use these panels, please make sure to properly earth the box! Only attempt this kind of project if you're confident in your abilities. The DMX adapter features some LEDs that shine through the DMX plate, providing a clear indication of the connection. I chose this color because it's glow-in-the-dark. There are M6 bolt holes on the printed parts for mounting, but I ended up using gorilla glue instead – bolts would work just as well. Enjoy building your project, and please be safe – don't risk your life trying to create something that's beyond your skill level!
