DJ Roomba Brace

DJ Roomba Brace

A friend dared me to create a DIY DJ Roomba, just like the one seen in TV's "Parks and Recreation," so I took on the challenge! You can find detailed assembly instructions in this video or check out my design process in this playlist! My top priorities for the mount were: Removable: Since Roombas are pricey, I didn't want to glue or screw directly into it. Adaptable: To accommodate various vacuum robots, any one of them should work as a DJ Roomba! The clamps can easily be adjusted to fit your robot's height. Unobstructive: The brace shouldn't interfere with the robot's normal operation. All sensors, buttons, and ports must remain accessible. Versatile: Vacuum robots are great platforms for diverse projects! The brace should allow anyone to build any type of robot they can imagine! To assemble DJ Roomba brace, you'll need some hardware: 1/4"-20 x 1/2" screw (x1) 1/4"-20 nuts (x3) 1/4"-20 lock-nuts (x3) 1/4"-20 x 6" threaded rod (x3) Washers (x3) Glue You can also print a figurehead for your Roomba's "prow." Simply add a socket for a 1/4"-20 nut to your favorite model and screw it in! Check out my Harambe Head design for inspiration. Print Settings: Printer: Monoprice Maker Select Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.2mm Infill: 20-30% higher for more strength Post-Printing Instructions: Screw the 1/4-20 screw into the hub's center hole. Glue lock nuts into the slots in the hub. Screw in threaded rods. Insert "thick" clamps with open sides facing towards the center on two rods. Place a washer and screw in a nut. Screw in a nut on the third rod. Place the brace on the Roomba and center the hub. Adjust the "thick" clamps for a snug fit. Place a washer on the third rod. Insert a "thin" clamp with open sides facing outwards. Fit the "thin" clamp to the handle and screw in a nut until there's no wobble. Screw your speakers or device of preference to the hub. Let DJ Roomba roam!
