We were making this project for use in a fellow biohackerspace and decided to upgrade it for reliability. What we have added: - We thought an Arduino could be unreliable in the long run. Also we thought that given slow speeds and relatively high torque either the driver or the stepper will probably overheat. So we made modifications for use of DC motor + 200rpm worm gear box and a PWM driver. Both motor and driver are cheap off-the-shelf components available in most countries. New parts include stand for motor which fits in stepper compartment and a stand for PWM pcb that fits instead of potentiometer stand. - The motion links seemed to be designed in a way that make screws slip unless you use glue, so we have added new versions for these (as well as motor connection link). - Triangular bearing carriage was also changed for additional strength. - Tested with 24h contionious operation without major issues Thanks ProgressTH for great project!
