This is a template and mounting plate designed to mount a DIY USB Spinner directly onto your arcade control panel. The center of the template can be easily removed after drilling, leaving behind a mounting plate for the spinner. A Pro Micro housing and top spacer are also included, allowing you to scale the top spacer vertically if needed to fit your spinner knob. Mounts in a 1-3/4" diameter hole in the control panel. The DIY USB Spinner is recognized by your computer or Raspberry Pi as a standard USB mouse, enabling you to play games the way they were originally intended. Tempest, for example, is not designed to be played with a joystick! Keep in mind that only certain versions of MAME on RetroPi will allow mouse input. For more information, please visit the following link: https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Spinners,-Trackballs,-Lightguns,-and-other-Mouse-Devices. To get started with wiring and programming, I've created a YouTube video that covers these essential steps - check it out here: https://youtu.be/zHjOcqpGl6M. The idea and Arduino sketch for this project originated from a video by Joe W, which can be found here: https://youtu.be/RsdFCMazzgI. I'd like to extend my gratitude to Joe for sharing his project with the community! My version of the sketch has been modified to remove the joystick interface since the buttons are handled by my X-Arcade controller. Here's a list of parts used in this DIY USB Spinner: * 600p/r Incremental Rotary Encoder Dc5-24v 6mm Shaft * Arduino Pro Micro ATmega32U4 5V 16MHz Micro-USB Development Module Board * CNC Aluminium Alloy Volume Control Knob 6mm Hole with Set Screw * Micro USB Cable * 3 - 8mm M3 screws * 4 - 3/8" Phillips countersink screws * 3D printed mounting plate, Arduino Pro Micro housing (optional), and Arduino sketch "spinner_no_buttons.ino" (available in the files section) For detailed instructions and a MAME DIAL SETTINGS chart, please refer to this document: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1LNWvXfLu1R1BIbdRE4Ho2E5RHNSW2niEuBgavP57IrU.
